It has been 25 years since the British Virgin Islands (BVI") started providing corporate vehicles and services to the world. As these companies have aged with their shareholders, the important and often overlooked issue of how shares in a BVI company may be validly transferred upon the death of a shareholder has become increasingly relevant.
